China is not a member of the Apostille Convention, therefore US documents to be used in China must be legalized by the Chinese Consulate or Embassy. Depending on the type of document, obtaining a certified copy or a notarization is the necessary first step. The process continues with authentication at County and State level and is finally completed at the Consulate or Embassy.
